The premium arts and crafts market offers an atmospheric Advent weekend full of unique handmade items, culinary delights and a pre-Christmas atmosphere. Due to the great interest in previous years, the event area was extended last year to create even more space to browse and linger.
The schauinsland-reisen market of lights has enjoyed steadily growing popularity since its premiere at the Kraftzentrale. Last year, a total of almost 30,000 guests attended. This year, visitors can once again look forward to high-quality arts and crafts: 120 exhibitors present unique handmade items made of wood, felt, fabric, jewellery, ceramics, porcelain and stationery in the historic ambience of the former smelting works and in the blower hall. Homemade honey, oil, liqueur and spice creations round off the offer.
The premium artisan market not only offers the opportunity to purchase exceptional handicrafts, but also to learn the stories behind the works and talk to the artisans in person. At some stands, you can watch the craftspeople making their work and marvel at various techniques such as jewellery design or woodwork live.
Culinary delights await visitors to the schauinsland-reisen market of lights, with a varied offering that combines both classic and modern flavours. In the illuminated outdoor area, guests can look forward to savoury currywurst, roasted almonds, mulled wine and waffles. Vegetarian and vegan visitors are also catered for: veggie burritos and vegan burgers are on the menu, as is the winter classic kale.
Away from the hustle and bustle, the cosy Advent café invites you to linger and enjoy. Italian coffee specialities are served here. Festive brass music from the ‘Gabrieli Quartet’ will be on offer on all three days, creating an Advent atmosphere.
A special programme highlight awaits visitors on Friday, 29 November 2024: name sponsor schauinsland-reisen will present a new world record attempt in the casting hall, to which all guests are cordially invited.
Tickets
Advance ticket sales for the Market of Lights start on Monday, 21 October 2024. Adults pay €6.50, children up to the age of 12 get in free. Tickets are only available online at www.lichtermarkt.ruhr and at the Duisburg Tourist Information Centre, Königstraße 86, 47051 Duisburg, and are valid for a single visit.
One ticket is required for the entire event area (outdoor area, blower hall, casting hall). During the event, tickets are available on site in the Landscape Park at the entrance to the schauinsland-reisen Lichtermarkt.
