Summer holidays: Light installation runs every night

During the summer holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia, visitors can experience the highlight of the Landscape Park every evening; that is when the British artist Jonathan Park's light installation immerses the old ironworks in a fascinating sea of light and colour. Until 2 September the light installation runs every night.

The programme is linked to a twilight switch which, as night falls, launches the start (around 9.30 PM). At 3 AM the light will be switched off.

The light installation covers the technical installations at the heart of the ironworks, illuminating the steel structures, pipes, equipment, steps and bridges of the old industrial plant. Usually, the so-called full programme runs on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and on Bank Holidays. From Mondays to Thursdays a reduced programme is run, limited to the illumination of the three chimney stacks and few selected parts of the ironworks. In the summer holidays the park runs the full programme every night.
