Engine House

The Engine House, 170m long, 35m wide and approx. 20m high, was built between 1906 and 1911 when two new blast furnaces were built to increase the capacity of the mill. It accommodated ten gas engines fueled by blast-furnace gas to drive generators for electricity production and six blowers to produce blast air for the furnaces. The Engine House supplied electricity to the mill and the neighboring Neubreisacher Strasse residential estate until 1965. When the machinery had eventually been scrapped, the old Engine House was used as a warehouse until 1987.

As the Park was developed, the Engine House was renovated and converted into a multi-functional event center. After seven months of construction work, it was reopened in October 1997 and has since seen major events of international standing. The huge factory structure with its particular character and the modern facilities integrated into the building give these events an atmosphere of their own.
